Ep. 121: Stinkertons!
Lamenting the entrenchment of capitalist ideology in modern society, Friedrich Jamieson once said that "It is easier to imagine the end of the world than it is the end of capitalism." For the rich, the wealthy elite that has all the power in this system, it is apparently easier for them to imagine *your* end than it is the end of capitalism. Because as all signs point to the climate change catastrophe as an imminent apocalypse for capitalism, the rich are planning to contain you, to criminalize you, and--if even mildly necessary--to kill you.
Most egregiously are the strikebreakers of the Pinkertons moving into the "climate security" space fossil fuel executives that are continuing to invest in fossil fuel extraction. But there are broader signs that the elite are banking more on a police state that protects their wealth (IMAGINE THAT) than any substantive change to their capacity to convert our future quality of life into their future profits.
