Ep. 101: The Case Against Thanos (And Thomas Malthus)

In the new Scarlet Witch movie, there's this purple fella named Thanos who wants to shrink the population by half because he thinks the Universe is getting a mite too crowded. This silly idea is reminiscent of those put forward by Thomas Malthus, a 19th-century political economist that believed human civilization would collapse because the poors would keep making babies until society collapsed due to lack of resources. For the record, When Malthus was alive, there were 1 billion humans on the planet. Today there are 7.6 billion. So... Any day now!

This episode we're talking about Infinity Gauntlets and why if you're worried about resources scarcity you should be more concerned with allocation than population.
