Future Left Ep. 69: The Future of Sex, Sexuality, and Relationships

Future Left Ep. 69: The Future of Sex, Sexuality, and Relationships

This week! We're talking about future freakiness: sex, sexuality, and how you'll meet (or 3d-print) your mate of tomorrow. **Just to be clear** in this episode we make a lot of jokes about sex being shameful, which we don't actually believe. We both think sex is awesome and everyone should have more of it (if they want). Sex positivity, yay!

This was a bit of a long episode that we're breaking up into three parts. You're listening to the full track here (which includes a brief introductory discussion of the Trump administration's decision to exit the Paris Climate Accords), but shorter tracks are available discussing:

1) A Buzzfeed listicle about sex in the future, everything from the future of condoms to teledildonics.

2) The Tinder of Tomorrow and Polyamory. What will Tinder look like with more advanced AI and algorithms? Some people pursuing non-traditional relationships that involve more than two people, or sometimes pursuing multiple romantic relationships. What's up with that?

3) Sex Robots, Sex Workers, and Rape Culture. We talk about sex robots all the time, but in particular this time we're looking at the effect that this technological unemployment might have on sex workers around the world. Will sex robots end human trafficking? We're also talking about the reproduction of gender norms and gender relations in the sex robot space, with one feminist perspective arguing that sex robots aren't about male companionship--they're about male dominance.

All that in more in this week's episodes.
