Milo Yiannopolous, the extraordinary "alt-right" king of internet trolls, was recently banned from twitter following a campaign of abuse against Leslie Jones. Milo's supporters claim this is an egregious assault on free speech, but twitter is nonetheless a privately owned space and the company has terms of service that they assert were violated. But it's an important question: social media is fast becoming a public forum for the exchange of ideas. What are the free speech implications for properly governing this space? And what the hell is going on with this "alt-right" nonsense?
